Abramenko: Trade between Belarus, Russia’s Vladimir Oblast is gaining momentum

Mutual trade between Belarus and Russia’s Vladimir Oblast is picking up steam, Belarus’ Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko said during a meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Vladimir Oblast on 17 September, BelTA has learned.

In 2024, trade between Belarus and Russia’s Vladimir Oblast increased by 18%, and Belarusian exports grew by over a quarter. In January-July 2025, trade rose by 4% year-on-year.

The structure of mutual trade reflects the complementary nature of both economies. Future goals include expanding mutual deliveries and diversifying the range of traded goods.

The meeting also addressed opportunities for cooperation and regional partnerships as the foundation for trade, investment, social and cultural relations. The parties focused on expanding cooperation in manufacturing industry, construction, forestry, and the agro-industrial sector, including supplies of machinery, spare parts, components, and building materials.

Vladimir Oblast’s representatives proposed the creation of a national laser center of Belarus in partnership with the Vladimir-based company ThermoLaser. Additionally, the parties considered the possibility of direct cooperation between the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation and DeHes (Vladimir Oblast) for the supply of lysine sulfate.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a cooperation protocol.
