Belarus-Russia ministerial consultations focus on interaction in international organizations

Belarusian-Russian ministerial consultations on cooperation between Belarus and Russia in international organizations were held in Minsk on 26 March, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
The Belarusian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Ambrazevich, while the Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin.

The parties noted the high level of interaction between the two states in international organizations and the similarity of approaches of Belarus and Russia to the issues on the global agenda. The parties discussed current trends in the work of international organizations and outlined joint steps to promote and protect common interests in multilateral organizations.
The parties highly appreciated the role of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter in promoting multilateralism and defending the principles of the UN Charter and agreed to continue joint efforts to strengthen the foundations of a multipolar world order.
Considerable attention was paid to the prospects for the formation of a new security architecture in Eurasia.
Yuri Ambrazevich and Sergey Vershinin reaffirmed their countries' commitment to promoting bilateral cooperation in international organizations and strengthening the positions of Belarus and Russia in the system of multilateral diplomacy.
