Top 5 sectors for female entrepreneurship in Union State of Belarus, Russia named

Female entrepreneurship in Belarus and Russia brings the greatest benefit to the economies of both countries in five key areas, Ruslan Neverovich, deputy director of the Entrepreneurship Department at the Economy Ministry of Belarus, said at a press conference in Minsk on 12 May, BelT Ahas learned.

“The first area is light industry and the fashion industry where Western brands that have left the Union State market are rapidly substituted by local brands. Belarusian women entrepreneurs are traditionally good at designing and making high quality knitted goods. Russian businesswomen provide large scale sales channels, integration into major marketplaces, and investment in production expansion,” he explained.
Another line of business is tourism and hospitality. “Cooperation is focused on redirecting tourist flows to the domestic Union State market and boosting regional infrastructure,” he said.
The third one is social entrepreneurship. “Cooperation in these areas helps reduce the burden on state-financed institutions by providing high quality private services. This includes setting up joint educational centers, private clinics and laboratories,” he added.
The fourth area covers marketing, consulting and services. “Cooperation in these fields ensures uninterrupted services for manufacturers in both countries. Belarusian and Russian companies led by women handle legal support for transactions within the Union State, accounting outsourcing, and brand promotion on the common market,”he said.
The fifth area is the high tech sector: IT and digital trade. Ruslan Neverovich also noted that the share of women’s participation in business in Belarus and Russia is roughly similar. In Belarus it is 41.6%, and in the Russian Federation - 41%.
