The ceremony gathered representatives of the road construction teams that built the bridge and residents of Mozyr District. According to the tradition, the state times the launch of major infrastructure and social projects to coincide with October Revolution Day.

The president highlighted the importance of this bridge not only for the region but for the entire country. Built after the war, the bridge in Mozyr was the first and only road bridge across the Pripyat River. Since then, there had been neither the funds nor the opportunity to renovate this important facility. It was not an easy task to accomplish even now. However, thanks to Belarusian specialists, it was possible to transform the bridge into a state-of-the-art object. What is more, it comes with a 100-year warranty. “Many, many of us will be gone (that’s the way life is), yet the bridge will remain a monument to our good deeds, standing strong and serving Mozyr, Kalinkovichi, and the entire country, far beyond Gomel Oblast,” the head of state emphasized.

The bridge over the Pripyat at this location was built in 1958. After decades of intensive use, it required renovation. The work was carried out over two years. The upgraded bridge has become wider (10 meters instead of 7) and is now equipped with an observation deck on a new cable-stayed arch, an elevator on the Mozyr side, and architectural lighting.

The bridge was initially set to open in May 2026, but the high work pace allowed for its completion ahead of schedule on 7 November. Even before the opening, the bridge, with its installed cable-stayed arch and illumination, had already become a popular photo spot for Mozyr residents.
As a sign of gratitude, the local residents presented the head of state with a painting titled Beloved City created by Leonid Prikhodko, a teacher at Mozyr Children’s Art School. The painting depicts Mozyr set amidst forests and hills, with the picturesque Pripyat River running by. Its embankment is a popular promenade for locals and visitors alike, with the two banks linked by the renovated bridge.
According to the president, the painting will be handed over to the Palace of Independence, which houses a museum of gifts presented to the Belarusian head of state from leaders of other countries, renowned public and political figures, representatives of culture and art, and work collectives.
