Lieutenant Colonel Denis Bilman, commander of the commandant battalion of the Minsk military commandant's office shared details about the Victory Parade program in a new episode of BelTA’s Nation Speaks project.

"Every serviceman understands their personal responsibility for holding ceremonial events. The parade will be, let’s say, grand. There are many innovations. The program will feature two parts: historical and modern. Senior officials and military leaders have carefully studied the Victory Parade on Red Square in Moscow in 1945. Specific changes will be made to the historical part of the event, including elements from the Red Square parade. The regiments are currently rehearsing," Denis Bilman said.

Traditionally, the historical part of the parade begins with servicemen carrying war banners: the flags of formations and units involved in the liberation of Belarus. Following them, parade regiments march, recreating the atmosphere of the Victory Day parade in Moscow in 1945.

Although Denis Bilman did not reveal all the preparation details, he noted that the Moscow parade included regiments of military dog handlers and sappers. "Dogs carried out landmine clearance missions during the war. Together with their handlers, they faced the horrors of war. Even today, they continue clearing our lands. The parade will be impressive, grand, and very interesting," he emphasized.

Uniforms and weaponry will be reconstructed and presented during the parade. "Every detail has been thoroughly examined. The uniforms are being tailored in order to create the very atmosphere," Denis Bilman remarked.

The parade will also feature partisan units, he stated. "This will not be a complete replication of the units that participated in the Victory Day parade in Moscow. Instead, several ranks will represent specific parade units that marched in Red Square in 1945," he noted.
