The main events unfold during the Great Patriotic War in the suburbs of Leningrad. But, as the creators point out, this movie is not so much about war as about universal human values and the amazing qualities inherent in animals.
The story tells about a dog who saved 16 people from starvation. "Karuza" is a collective image of our lesser brothers who, along with people, manifested themselves in the rear and at the front. A kind and instructive picture is recommended for family viewing. Interestingly, a family dynasty participated in the creation of the film.
In his film debut, the director was supported by his father, People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Kharatyan. The actor played the role of an already grown-up boy Mitya, who was the owner of the dog. On behalf of the hero Dmitry Kharatyan, many years later, there is a narrative about the events of the war years. By the way, it was from his father that director Ivan Kharatyan heard this story for the first time.
