A joint meeting of the boards of the State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus and the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of Russia was held in Mogilev on 15 April, BelTA learned from the State Security Committee.

The participants of the meeting took stock of interaction in the main areas of intelligence activities and discussed priorities of joint work amid the aggressive policy of the collective West towards Belarus and Russia.

During the negotiations between Chairman of the KGB Ivan Tertel and Director of the SVR Sergei Naryshkin, it was emphasized that the collective West, including some of the most hostile NATO and EU members, continue attempts to hurt Belarus and Russia. The Ukrainian crisis is being used as a tool to destabilize the Union State.

A wide range of capabilities of Western intelligence services is being actively used. In these conditions, it is necessary to pool the potential of the two agencies to counter these hostile aspirations.
