Belarus is committed to expanding cooperation with Yakutia, Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said at a meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) of the Russian Federation, held in Yakutsk on 7 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Economy.

The meeting reviewed the status of the previously reached agreements and identified new opportunities to strengthen the partnership. The positive dynamics in bilateral cooperation are reflected in concrete figures: in January-July 2026, trade between Belarus and Yakutia increased almost fourfold. The participants noted that there is significant potential for further increasing trade and expanding cooperation.

Yuri Chebotar outlined priority areas for joint work and stressed the importance of a comprehensive approach to developing bilateral ties. “Our common task is to diversify trade flows and ensure stable, regular supplies from different industries. For example, our food products are already well known to Yakutia’s residents. We are ready to expand this range, ensuring a regular presence of high-quality and organic goods on the Yakutian market. Belarus produces a modern range of passenger vehicles, and we can offer Yakutsk and other cities of the republic comprehensive solutions to modernize public transport and municipal services. The effective operation of the branch office of Yakutia Railways in Minsk is already giving a tangible boost to mutual trade. Further optimization of logistics will help shorten delivery times and reduce costs. It is important to continue developing social and cultural cooperation, including in tourism, education and sports, as these areas strengthen ties between our peoples,” he said.

The meeting concluded with the signing of the working group meeting protocol and cooperation agreements on servicing Belarusian-made BelAZ and AMKODOR machinery, on cooperation in precious metals.

Ahead of the meeting, Yuri Chebotar and First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha Andrei Fedotov held a working meeting to discuss expanding supplies of mining machinery, after-sales service, modernization of the existing machinery fleet, and joint projects for mining companies. The minister also visited the Technopark Yakutia, where he observed the operation of the Extra Cinema film equipment facility.
