Belarus and Russia are working on the creation of a committee on standardization and quality. Alexander Skuratov, Director of the Belarusian State Institute of Standardization and Certification (BelSISC), told about this at a press conference at the National Press Center of Belarus.

The speaker stressed that standardization is a key tool for Belarus to enter new markets, remove technical barriers and support the introduction of new technologies. "National standardization is currently undergoing a transformation that requires serious concentration and rapid product withdrawal," he said.

According to Alexander Skuratov, standardization is the most important tool for the harmonization of requirements in different countries. He cited the work in this area by Belarus and Russia as an example.

"The beginning of this work was laid by the agreements of the heads of Gosstandart and Rosstandart, when the first elements of cooperation, very close cooperation, began to appear. Experts from Belarus and Russia in various fields of activity began to simultaneously consider the standards that are being developed at the national level in our countries in order to ensure that the requirements are maximally harmonized, in order to remove any existing barriers as much as possible," the speaker shared.

The result of this cooperation was the elaboration of the issue of creating a special committee within the Union State that will deal with standardization and quality issues at the level of the two states.

"The relevant priority areas have already been identified, and these are not only classical areas of industry, but also new technologies. For example, those that are included in the strategy of scientific and technological development of the Union State for the period up to 2035 and for which it is planned to develop standards: technologies in the field of renewable energy sources, additive technologies, electronics and radio electronics, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, innovative engineering and instrumentation, unmanned vehicles," the director of BelSISC listed.

Skuratov stressed that there are already preliminary results in the form of concepts and rules for the development of union standards, and programs have also been launched to develop standards for baby food, energy efficiency, energy conservation, and microelectronics.

In turn, the Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization, Elena Morgunova, added that the committee's statutory documents are currently being coordinated. According to her, it will combine the work of Belarusian and Russian experts in standards, accreditation, metrology and conformity assessment. "The committee will involve not only Gosstandart and Rosstandart, but also the accreditation centers and metrological institutes of both countries. It will close the functions of the quality infrastructure of the Union State," the speaker said
