Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Yuri Seliverstov visited Russia’s state news agency TASS and held a working meeting with its Director General Andrei Kondrashov, the embassy’s press service told BelTA.

The parties discussed the coverage of Belarus-related and Union State topics in Russian media, the development of Belarus-Russia media cooperation, current trends in the media market, and the progress of reforms in Union State media outlets.

Ambassador Yuri Seliverstov also answered questions from TASS reporters. Speaking about multi-brand centers of Belarusian machine-building companies in Russian regions, he said: “Our government has adopted a strategy for developing such multi-brand centers. I believe that around 15 modern centers should be present in major Russian regions. We still need to think about the locations.”

According to the diplomat, a large center is planned to open in St. Petersburg. It will operate under the brand Belorusskie mashiny [Belarusian machines], but other manufacturers will also be represented. The possibility of opening a center in Krasnodar is being considered in addition to the one recently launched in the region. The ambassador explained that regional specifics are taken into account when choosing locations. “Centers that service, such as BelAZ, are concentrated more in the Urals and Siberia. We export more agricultural machinery to southern regions, as a rule,” he added.

Ambassador Yuri Seliverstov noted that there are already about ten such centers in Russian regions, but only three or four of them are large and modern. The diplomat emphasized that this format has a strong future, as it allows several manufacturers to be brought together under one roof and ensures high-quality service for the entire range of equipment.

The ambassador also said that a tram modernized by the Belarus-Russia enterprise BKM Sibir will soon begin operating in Nizhnekamsk. According to him, the modernization became possible thanks to cooperation between the two countries. “Belarus did not produce tram bogies. These old bogies, here in Russia, with components from Belarus and through the efforts of our joint venture BKM Sibir, are receiving new bodies and new internal systems,” Ambassador Yuri Seliverstov explained.
