Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa as the country celebrates Freedom Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Having won the right to determine their own destiny through decades of struggle against the apartheid regime, the people of South Africa have turned their country into a successful example of democracy, steady progress and openness to partnership with other nations,” the head of state noted. “Belarusians and South Africans share approaches to building their own models of national development and have a common understanding of the importance of peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and support on the international stage.”

The message of congratulations stressed that the similarity of political ideals combined with the complementarity of their economies creates good prospects for bilateral trade, industrial, agricultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries.

“Minsk also expects to step up interaction with Pretoria at international venues, as well as within universal and regional associations such as the UN, BRICS, and the New Development Bank. I hope that in the near future we will achieve more significant results in various areas,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

The head of state wished the South African president good health, longevity and continued success in public administration, and peace and prosperity to the friendly nation of South Africa.
