The Union State is currently focusing on bringing together the policies of Belarus and Russia in all spheres, primarily in the economy. This was stated to journalists by Deputy State Secretary of the Union State Alexander Yaroshenko before the gala concert at the Palace of the Republic dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, reports a Soyuz.by correspondent.

Alexander Yaroshenko recalled that the Union State was created 30 years ago based on the historical commonality and shared economic and political interests of the two countries. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he noted, it was important for Belarus and Russia to have a point of support, and it was found precisely in this integration association.
According to the Deputy State Secretary, the priority today is to prevent the divergence of the policies of the two sovereign states and to bring them closer together. At the same time, he emphasized, Belarus and Russia are creating a foundation for technological developments to be used in both countries.
As a specific example of successful cooperation, Alexander Yaroshenko cited the Belarusian heavy truck BelAZ, which uses components, including those produced in Russia. Such projects, he stressed, should become a model of how integration helps solve economic and other tasks.
Another example of interaction cited by the speaker was the launch on April 2 of suburban train services on the Smolensk — Orsha and Smolensk — Vitebsk routes. This was done for the convenience of residents of the two countries. Alexander Yaroshenko concluded that such projects are precisely those points of support and mutual integration interaction that yield real benefits for people living in the Union State.
