PHOTOfact: A meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly seminar on issues of ensuring the rational use of land resources

On October 2, 2025, a meeting of the permanent seminar of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on the construction of the Union State opened in Minsk. The topic was "Rational use of land resources as a factor in food security of the Union State".

The seminar is being chaired by Ivan Markevich, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly's Committee on Agrarian Issues, and Andrei Balysh, a member of the committee. Experts participating in the meeting include representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, research institutes specializing in land use issues, heads of agricultural holdings, and representatives of farming enterprises from both countries.
Seminar participants discuss the rational use of land resources to ensure food security in the Union State. They examine the legal foundations of agricultural policy, mechanisms for interstate and national regulation of land use, and economic factors in the efficient use and distribution of land, including the role of investment in the development of the agricultural sector and infrastructure.
The workshop will last two days. In addition to sharing experiences in implementing modern land management models, participants will also visit the modern multifunctional agricultural enterprise OAO Ozeritsky-Agro.
Following the meeting, a document will be prepared containing practical recommendations aimed at ensuring the rational use of land resources and strengthening the food security of the Union State.
The permanent seminar at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on the construction of the Union State was established at the initiative of Union parliamentarians and began its work in 2006. Traditionally, the seminar brings together representatives of the academic communities of Belarus and Russia. The format of the event provides an opportunity to thoroughly examine current issues of cooperation between Belarus and Russia within the Union State. The high professional level of the seminar participants allows for the development of solutions for the further development of Belarusian-Russian relations.
Also, as part of a meeting of the permanent seminar at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on the construction of the Union State, on the topic of "Rational Use of Land Resources as a Factor in Food Security of the Union State," deputies, together with participants of the event, visited the modern multifunctional agricultural enterprise OAO Ozeritsky-Agro.
During the visit, seminar participants learned about the company's operations, including its developments in the area of rational use of land resources and potato storage.
As a result of the exchange of experience between experts from Belarus and Russia, a document will be prepared containing practical recommendations aimed at ensuring the rational use of land resources and strengthening food security in the Union State.
