Today, on October 2, at the site of the China‑Belarus Industrial Park “Great Stone,” a meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council under the Standing Committee of the Union State was held under the chairmanship of the State Secretary of the Union State, Sergei Glazyev, titled “Features of Trade, Economic and Investment Cooperation in the Union State.”
Among the topics: assessing the potential of Belarusian‑Russian trade, economic and investment cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats; the experience of “Great Stone” Industrial Park and its resident companies in attracting investments into the economy of Belarus and the Union State; the synergy of science and industry in implementing high‑tech projects in the Union State; issues related to increasing the investment attractiveness of the regions of Belarus and Russia; “Union State Goods” and their role in industrial cooperation.

Opening the meeting, the State Secretary of the Union State recalled that the results of trade and economic cooperation had been summed up at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State held yesterday.
“Thus, a historical record was set in the current half‑year: the growth of mutual trade exceeded 20%,” Sergei Glazyev noted. “We have never seen such rates before.” Let’s hope that such high rates of development in trade and economic cooperation will be maintained in the future, including through institutions such as the “Free Trade Zone” — a special economic zone with confidential regimes and favourable conditions for investors,” said the State Secretary of the US.
It is no coincidence that the meeting participants discussed the experience of the China‑Belarus Industrial Park “Great Stone” in attracting investment.
“For Belarus and Russia, the People's Republic of China is a strategic partner, which is why we are increasingly strengthening cooperation ties and joint investments. And growth points such as the system of state incentives for joint investments established in the “Great Stone” deserve to be analysed and, perhaps, used more widely in various regions of Belarus and Russia,” said the State Secretary of the Union State.
Sergei Glazyev also highlighted the relevance of the topic “Union State Goods”.
“Today, about a dozen such goods are already in the public eye; the topic is relevant and very interesting,” he emphasized.
Regarding the synergy between science and industry, the State Secretary of the Union State considers this area to be the most promising.
“The Union State is implementing scientific and technical programs. More than 60 such programs have already been implemented. Perhaps, in technical terms, the results are good and promising in most cases, but in terms of scaling up and using these results in practice, there are still many untapped opportunities,” Sergei Glazyev noted.
He also reported that, in the future, the timeframe for preparing scientific and technical joint programs could be reduced to two years. This issue is currently under active consideration.
