Turchin: Economies of Belarus and Russia grow as bilateral trade hits new records

The sustainable growth of the Belarusian and Russian economies is ensured, among other things, thanks to the integration of the two countries, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said during a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 1 October, BelTA has learned.

“The key vectors of integration between Belarus and Russia are traditionally set by the heads of state. The alignment of their views and approaches to resolving challenging issues against the backdrop of complex external circumstances allows for the rapid implementation of joint plans at all levels of interaction – from the government down to regions and enterprises. In recent years, Belarus and Russia have proven that the Union State is not just a declaration, but a working mechanism that delivers tangible results in trade, industry, technology, and the social welfare,” Aleksandr Turchin said.

The prime minister emphasized that the Belarusian and Russian economies are intertwined as never before. “We support each other within industrial cooperation, resolve issues of technological development together, and ensure that the market is saturated with food and consumer goods. Despite continuing pressure, the economies of Belarus and Russia demonstrate a positive growth. This resilience is also driven by our close integration. This year, mutual trade continues to set new records. In January-August 2026, trade between Belarus and Russia increased by more than 20%. It is particularly noteworthy that we have achieved almost perfect balance in the dynamics of mutual supplies. Bilateral trade in services is growing at a rapid pace, with traditional flagships being transport, construction, business, and computer services,” the prime minister noted.

Aleksandr Turchin pointed out that in the first days of October, the Belarusian capital serves as an integration platform, hosting high-level delegations from the EAEU countries and participants of the INNOPROM. Belarus expo. On 1 October, at the meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers, decisions are to be made on a wide range of issues within the competence of the governments, and topics to be submitted for consideration by the Union State Supreme State Council are to be finalized.
