The competition is organized by the Minsk City branch of the Writers' Union. The "Belarus-Russia" Friendship Society and the Cultural and Educational Public Association "Nasha Rus" are among the coorganizers. The event is supported by the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Minsk.
The main goal of the "Slavic Kaleidoscope" is to draw the attention of creative youth to the heroic pages of the common history of the two countries, to promote the ideas of peaceful creative cooperation and the development of the Union State. The organizers pay special attention to countering attempts to falsify historical events, primarily the results of the Great Patriotic War, as well as fostering patriotism and a sense of unity among contemporaries.
Authors between the ages of 14 and 30 are invited to participate. Entries are accepted in Belarusian and Russian in three categories: poetry (2-3 poems must be submitted), prose (novella, short story, essay) and journalism (essay, article, interview, report).
A solemn summing up ceremony will be held at the Writers' Union of Belarus in early April. The event will be part of a literary celebration dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.
