Sergey Glazyev was presented in the post of State Secretary of the Union State to the staff of the Standing Committee of the SU

Dmitry Mezentsev, who previously served as State Secretary of the Union State, thanked the staff of the Standing Committee of the Union State for their comradely work in achieving the goals set by the leaders of Belarus and Russia. Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Alexander Rogozhnik announced the decision of the Supreme State Council to appoint Sergei Glazyev State Secretary of the Union State.

"I would like to congratulate you sincerely, from the depth of my heart, Sergei Yurievich, Alexander Rogozhnik addressed Sergei Glazyev. - I would like to say just a few words, that at the meeting before your appointment, the head of state emphasised that the very meaning of the Union State is first and foremost an economic platform. Because the creation of a strong and prosperous Union State is our main goal".

At the same time, said the Ambassador of Belarus to Russia, work should be continued to create equal rights for citizens, as well as to create common conditions for economic entities of the two countries.

In turn, Dmitry Mezentsev wished Sergei Glazyev success in his work as State Secretary of the Union State. "In my understanding, Union building is also defence security, it is cultural, humanitarian, scientific, educational cooperation. It is co-operation of regions, co-operation of parliaments. This is a huge palette of relations, which is very valuable and significant. Sometimes it is difficult to find a calculator where you can count camaraderie, sincerity, family ties and, of course, the protection of memory, which has been repeatedly mentioned by national leaders", - emphasised Dmitry Mezentsev.

Sergei Glazyev expressed gratitude to the Presidents of Belarus and Russia for their high trust. The new State Secretary of the Union State assured that he would do his utmost to maintain the high ideological and political level and further strengthen the union of the two countries.

Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko spoke about the decision of the leaders of the two countries to have Sergei Glazyev replace Dmitry Mezentsev as State Secretary of the Union State. Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Dmitry Mezentsev as his authorised representative in the Constitutional Court.
