The Chechen Republic of Russia is interested in launching direct flights to Belarus, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department of the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry Yekaterina Goncharenok said in a new episode of BelTA’s Nation Speaks project.

Currently, domestic charter programs are actively developing in Russia. “At the international tourism exhibition Otdykh [Leisure], which was held in Minsk in March, we discussed with [representatives from] the Russian regions the possibility of expanding these programs to Belarus. For example, the Chechen Republic has shown interest in launching a Minsk-Grozny flight," Yekaterina Goncharenok said.

Some railway routes are expected to resume operations.

Yekaterina Goncharenok recalled that Belarus is currently undergoing the five-year period of quality and the Year of Improvement. “When developing the new state program, it is crucial to thoroughly examine all aspects of tourism development in each district, reviewing every route, signage, accommodation, and dining options. Cooperation with relevant ministries and agencies is essential to refine and finalize plans so that in the upcoming five-year period we have well-structured initiatives in place and can gradually enhance our services,” she concluded.
