The Belarusian delegation was led by Head of Belarusian Railways Valery Verenich, while the Moscow Railway delegation was headed by its chief, Pavel Ivanov. Valery Verenich noted that passenger services between Belarus and Russia, including cross-border commuter services, were a priority for both sides. “The growing demand for these services is confirmed by the annual increase in passenger numbers. We are also focused on ensuring the regular and timely transfer of freight trains at interchange points so that all requests from freight shippers for rail transportation can be met,” Valery Verenich stressed.
The main topic of discussion was improving operational work at cross-border interstate points and organizing freight transportation between the two railways. The parties outlined further steps to ensure the smooth passage of freight flows, including transit traffic. In addition, the participants paid attention to developing passenger transportation in interstate and cross-border traffic.
