The Kupala Night Festival in Alexandria is a truly unique place, which you never want to leave, Belarusian Culture Minister Ruslan Chernetsky said during the the nationwide Kupala Night Festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends) held in Shklov District on 5 July, BelTA has learned

“I always come here with great pleasure. This festival is special to me. It has the atmosphere of home and soul,” he said.

Ruslan Chernetsky remarked that preparations for the event are always extensive and serious. “We spend several days here in a row here, rehearsing, running through everything. It all ends very late, because we are the ones preparing it. No one sees what happens behind the scenes and how much effort and nerves it takes. But that doesn’t matter. Because it brings so much joy, and you just want it to go on and on. It is a special place you don’t want to leave,” he emphasized.

The Kupala Night Festival in Alexandria showcases the richness and diversity of culture. “At the opening of the festival, we all saw just how diverse our Belarusian culture is. We may not be the largest country in the world, but we are also not the smallest. Yet, each region has its own ethnic distinctions, its own identity, even its own dialect,” the minister noted. “Russian regions also come here, and the farther they are, the more differences you can notice. But they are united and have so much in common. It is fascinating. It brings people closer together and enriches every person.”

Shklov District is playing host to the Kupala Night Festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends) for the 16th time. Located on a picturesque bank of the Dnieper River, the event draws tens of thousands of visitors every year.
