Council of CIS plenipotentiary representatives to convene in Minsk on 28 April

The next session of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth member states to the statutory bodies and other bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be held in Minsk on 28 April, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee told BelTA.

The event will begin with a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial sign To the Victims of Chernobyl in the capital’s Peoples’ Friendship Park. After that, the permanent representatives will visit the Life Safety Education Center of the Emergencies Ministry where they will get familiar with the institution’s work.
At the Council session, which will take place at the Life Safety Education Center, nine matters are expected to be considered. Among them are the results of the session of the CIS Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs held in Moscow the day before and the tasks related to the implementation of the documents adopted and initiatives put forward during that meeting as well as the progress in preparing the next session of the CIS Council of Heads of Government scheduled to take place in Ashgabat on 22 May.
Apart from that, the permanent representatives will sum up the results of the implementation of activities concerning the organization of the Year of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War – the Year of Peace and Unity in the Fight Against Nazism in the CIS in 2025, review the operation of the CIS Interstate Council on Hydrometeorology in 2022-2025, and discuss the state and development prospects of the railway transport sector of the CIS member states.
The Council members also plan to take stock of the implementation of the program on cooperation of the CIS member states in the fight against terrorism and extremism for 2023-2025.
