Belarus' visa waiver for citizens of Lithuania, Latvia, Poland hailed as effective

10:20, 8 July

The visa waiver for the citizens of Lithuania, Latvia and Poland has proved effective, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Anatoly Glaz told the ONT TV channel, BelTA informs.

On 15 April 2022 Belarus reopened its border for visa waiver arrivals from Lithuania and Latvia and on 1 July for visa waiver arrivals from Poland. As of 6 July, more than 100,000 Europeans visited Belarus taking advantage of the visa waiver.

“It is obvious that it is working. After all, it is in our nature not to break good-neighborly ties. This is absurd to break interpersonal contacts because of politicians from the neighboring countries. We will never agree to it,” Anatoly Glaz said.

After the introduction of the visa waiver for Polish nationals, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland warned the Poles against visiting Belarus citing the allegedly hostile attitude on the part of Belarus as the reason.

“If someone doesn't know it yet, we have never said at any level that we view the Poles as enemies. These are people close to us in many ways, a neighboring country with which we have always been building good neighborly relations on our own initiative, while the government of Poland comes and goes,” the Belarusian diplomat noted.

More information on visa-free visits to Belarus is available on the website of the State Border Committee of Belarus and the Belarus Border app.
